Rabeprazole belong to a group of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). Rabeprazole act by reducing the amount of acid made by the stomach. This effect is beneficial for the treatment and prevention of conditions in which gastric acid directly worsens symptoms, such as duodenal and gastric ulcers. Rabeprazole is available in 10 and 20 mg tablet and in the 20mg intravenous injection.

ANTACIDS

Antacids neutralizes the acid in your stomach, but they don’t block production of acid before it starts. Antacids work quickly, but effects last for only 1-3 hours after use.

RABELOC

Frequent heartburn can be treated with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) like Rabeloc. Rabeloc stops the production of acid before it starts. By turning off many of the pumps that produce acids.

H2S

Histamine blockers block one of the signals that tell your body to produce acid. They begin working within 30 minutes, for up to 12 hours. But unlike Rabeloc, H2 Receptor blockers can become less effective if used more than a few days in a row for heartburn.

Rabeloc Tablet Indications

  • Gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
  • Helicobacter pylori infection
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Rabeloc IV Indications

  • Upper gastro-intestinal bleeding
  • Acid-aspiration during surgery
  • Stress-induced mucosal injury
  • Short-term treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Alternative to oral PPI therapy
